This is such an unusual and incredibly heavy solid sterling silver pendant. To one side are wonderfully large British hallmarks that are a real feature of the design and to the other are hand engraved details of a moon, stars, a sun, an all seeing/evil eye and also a ruled and compass.
On the side with the British hallmarks to the top is the maker's hallmark 'RC' for Carr's of Sheffield Ltd, to the bottom is the lion passant for sterling silver, to the left is the Sheffield Assay Office hallmark and to the right is the date letter 'C' for 1977. This was the year of Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee so in the centre is also the special Hallmark used for pieces made in 1977.
We believe the hand engraved symbols to the other side are likely linked to the Freemasons as they use a range of symbols, including all of the ones that have been hand engraved, and each has their own meaning attributed to them.
The pendant is made of sterling silver and weighs approx 30.8g. It measures approx 32.5mm in diameter, approx 41.2mm tall including the jump ring, by approx 3.5mm deep.
Condition - The pendant is in good vintage condition but does show signs of age and wear, including surface wear throughout. There is some patina to the silver, most noticeably there is small mark towards the bottom of the pendant on the hand engraved side. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.
*Please note the box and chain pictured are not included in the sale but the pendant will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
