How beautiful are these antique diamond and pearl flower earrings!? Known as dormeuse earrings, they have a super comfortable lever style fitting to the back. Each earring features a large pearl surrounded by petals made up of grey, glinting rough cut diamonds. 
 
The earrings are made of gold, unhallmarked but each tests as at least 9ct gold. The have a loop shaped post with a lever style catch so the earrings fully close when worn to ensure they stay in your ears when worn.
 
We believe given the style of the earring fitting they likely date to circa 1900. 
 
Each earring flower measures approx 12mm tall by approx 12mm wide. From the back of the flower section to the front of the pearl measures approx 9.5mm deep. Including the ear wire, each earring measures approx 18mm tall from the bottom of the flower to the top of the ear wire/post. Each earring weighs approx 2.6g, weighing approx 5.2g in total. 
 
Condition - The earrings are in well loved and used condition and show signs of age and wear throughout which is common for pieces that are over 100 years old. There is wear to the gold, diamonds and pearls, with surface wear and visible old solder marks. The diamonds are quite grey in colour and are in closed back settings, they are likely foiled behind. They are very roughly cut and have surface wear, chips, nibbles and inclusions to the stones. The latch fastenings do still work and push closed, one looks to have had a repair. The ear wires/posts are now slightly misshapen and one looks to have had a repair near the top. We have gently cleaned these earrings but cannot clean them thoroughly as the closed back diamonds and pearls should not come into contact with liquids or chemicals. These earrings show signs of their age throughout but still make such a beautiful pair still to be cherished for years to come, we have priced them according to their condition and signs of age.
