We love finding antique chains, they seem to be getting harder and harder to find these days too! This particular chain has a really lovely, timeless belcher style link and a very handy dog clip clasp, perfect for adding charms and pendants to.
The chain is a lovely long length of just over 33 inches which means not only can it be worn as a single long chain, but it could also be doubled up and worn at a shorter length - it's like having two chains in one!
This chain is such a versatile piece for your jewellery box and a real timeless piece too! Wear it on its own, layer it with other chains or add light charms/pendants. So many different looks in one!
The chain is made of 9ct gold, tested and the dog clip is also made of 9ct gold marked '9c'.
The chain measures approx 33 1/4 inches long including the dog clip clasp. The link measures approx 3.5mm wide. The chain weighs approx 16.1g in total.
Condition - The chain is in good antique condition for a chain that is over 100 years old but please note that it does show considerable signs of age and wear, including surface wear to the gold. There are several old repairs to the belcher link along the chain, with some of the links now being soldered together and links are now a little less round in shape. Some also have indents. The dog clip clasp still works well. As with a lot of belcher link chains, the links can become twisted and but they just need a little persuasion/movement to straighten out/untwist.
