Said to symbolise cleverness, foxes are known as cunning creatures. In some cultures, they are viewed as a guide to help you navigate the spirit world too! We love how this antique gold fox looks like it is mid-run, and is atop a gold horn.
The charm is made of 15ct gold, with a British '15ct' gold mark to the back of the fox. The jump ring is a newer 9ct gold addition that is lighter in colour. Without further marks, it's hard to date the charm exactly but 15ct gold stopped being produced in 1932 so we know it predates 1932. We think the charm is likely late Victorian in age.
The charm measures approx 19.7mm long by approx 7.3mm tall (not including the jump ring but including the ring that the jump ring is connected to) by approx 4.9mm deep and weighs approx 0.6g.
Condition - The charm is in good antique condition with some surface wear to the gold throughout. It looks like the fox may have once had a longer tail. Under magnification you can see a small stump like tail where it could have been connected. The jump ring is a newer 9ct gold addition that is lighter in colour than the 15ct gold. It is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.
*Please note the antique box and chain pictured are not included in the sale but the charm will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
