We couldn't believe our luck when we found this incredibly rare and highly collectable spinning top charm! The design is based on 'Effeuiller la Marguerite', a game of French origin in which a person seeks to determine whether the object of their affection returns that affection.
Featuring six sides, each has its own enamel detailing that includes: 'he loves me', 'a little', ‘much', 'passionately', and 'he loves me not'. The final side features an enameled daisy with one petal removed.
The charm is made of 900 grade silver, marked '900' to the spinning top. The pendant bail to the top screws on and off so the spinning top can be spun without this altering how it is weighted/how it spins.
The charm weighs approx 3g and measures approx 28.2mm tall (not including the jump ring) by approx 10.3mm wide by approx 9.1mm deep.
Condition - The charm is in good antique condition but does show signs of age and wear, including surface wear to the silver and wear to the enamel in places. The silver does have patina to it throughout. The jump ring is currently pushed closed and is newer in age than the charm itself. Please see photos.
*Please note the antique box and chain pictured are not included in the sale but the charm will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
