How sweet is this antique gold Mizpah pendant!? The Hebrew word for watchtower, for centuries, particularly during the Victorian era, sweethearts have given Mizpah jewellery to their loved one when they have been separated from one another in the hope that they will remain safe and well whilst apart, until they are reunited.
This romantic pendant has detailing to the front depicting the word 'MIZPAH' with writing above and below that reads:
'The Lord watch between thee and me when we are absent one from another'
The other side of the pendant is also decorated too with what look to be ivy leaves surrounding a cross, heart and anchor symbol that symbolises faith, hope and charity.
The pendant is made of base metal with a copper tone.
The pendant measures approx 26.9mm tall (not including the jump ring at the top) by approx 23.9mm in diameter by aprox 1.1mm deep and weighs approx 3.8g in total.
Condition - The pendant is in good vintage condition but does show signs of age and wear, including surface wear, tarnishing and some dark marks to the metal. The design is worn in places from rubbing and the Mizpah message side is hard to read in places. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.
*Please note the antique chain and box pictured are not included in the sale but the pendant will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
