We love snake jewellery and couldn't help but be drawn to this unusual pair of intertwined snakes. There's a glass window locket set inbetween the two snakes, perfect for adding a special photo or memento to. 
 
Snakes are said to represent eternal love and were a very popular symbol during the Victorian era, thanks to Queen Victoria having a snake ring as her engagement ring! And 125 years on from her reign, snake jewellery is still very popular today and highly collectable.  
 
We love the way the two snakes have been crafted in contrasting metals. The pendant is unhallmarked, one snake tests as silver and the other as 9ct gold. Each snake has two glinting pink spinel eyes. Between the two snakes sits an oval locket with a glass window. This does open but can be quite fiddly to lift the panel out. 
 
The pendant weighs approx 7.8g and measures approx 71.6mm tall (not including the jump ring) by approx 20mm wide by approx 3.5mm deep. The locket measures approx 19.2mm tall by 16mm wide.
 
Without hallmarks it's hard to date the pendant exactly. We think the locket section could possibly be older than the snakes, with the locket looking like it could be an early vintage piece which has had the snakes added at a later date.

Condition - The pendant is in good vintage condition but does show signs of age and wear, including surface wear to the gold, silver, spinel stones and glass locket. There's tarnishing and some hand scratched marks to inside the locket. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.
