One of our favourite styles of chains to find, this vintage sterling silver curb link chain is such a useful piece to add to your jewellery box. We love its chunky curb link, dog clips and fixed T-bar. It's a hefty chain too, weighing in at over 50g!
Chains like these were originally watch chains to attach a pocket watch to but now they make such lovely necklaces when the dog clips are connected together. The chain is such a versatile piece as you can wear it with the dog clips to the back with the T-bar to the front as a pendant or in reverse with the clasp at the front - either as is or with charms and pendants added. If you have move than one chain like this you can even connect them together too to make one longer necklace.
The chain is made of sterling silver, the T-bar and both dog clips are marked '925'. One of the jump rings the dog clips connects to the chain with is also marked '925' and the other jump ring to the other end of the chain has the maker's mark 'NB'.
The chain measures approx 17 1/2 inches long including the dog clips. The chain weighs approx 52.8g in total and the curb link measures approx 6.5mm wide.
Condition - The chain is in good vintage condition but does show some signs of age and wear, including surface wear to the silver. The dog clip hinges still work well, one has slightly less patina and is slightly different in shape. The dog clips are not a perfect matching pair so one could be a replacement. Please see photos.
