We love jewellery that's practical as well as beautiful and this vintage gold plated pencil pendant is exactly that! Not only does it make a lovely statement pendant but there’s a real, small pencil inside which is flat in shape and can be used.

We think the pendant could have originally been part of a watch chain or possibly a chatelaine, a piece of jewellery which fastened to a belt or pocket and had chains attached to it, with small, useful items on the ends of the chains, including keys, fobs, scissors, purses and pencils to name just a few, so these useful items were always close to hand.

The pendant is gold plated with a lovely warm rose tone. This means the pendant is made of base metal with a layer of gold adhered to it to give the look of solid gold but without the price tag. The pendant is marked near the top 'TITRE*C*FIXE' and is also marked near where the pencil is 'DEPOSE'.

The pendant measures approx 90.4mm long (not including the jump ring) by approx 11.2mm wide by approx 6.6mm deep and weighs approx 8.3g (including the pencil inside).

Condition - the pendant is in good vintage condition but it does show signs of age and wear. There is surface wear to the gold plating and some small dings. The jump ring is currently soldered closed. Please see photos.

*Please note the antique box and chain pictured are not included in the sale but the pendant/fob will be shipped in a new presentation pouch*
