This vintage brooch features such an eye catching star sapphire, set as a feature of a riding cap. When the sunlight catches the sapphire cabochon a wonderful star shape appears in the stone. The riding cap is sat on top of a riding crop which also has lovely details. The riding crop handle is set with five small rose cut diamonds which catch the light beautifully too.
 
The second, third and fourth photos are of the brooch with direct sunlight so you can see how the star sapphire looks in direct light. 
 
The brooch is made of gold which test as at least 9ct, the brooch is unhallmarked. The pin is made of base metal. The riding crop is silver at the two ends, both around the diamonds and at the crop end which gives a lovely contrast.
 
The brooch measures approx 43.3mm wide by approx 12.7mm tall by approx 10.9mm deep including the pin fittings to the back. The star sapphire measures approx 10.1mm in diameter. The brooch weighs approx 3.7g in total.
 
Condition - The brooch is in good vintage condition but does show signs of age and wear, including surface wear to the silver, gold, metal pin, diamonds and star sapphire. The star sapphire does have some natural inclusions to the stone. The pin mechanism still works well. Please see photos.
