This vintage carved coral figa hand charm is such a beautifully detailed piece. We love the tones of the coral from orange to white and the gold fittings really compliment the coral's colours too.
The hand gesture has a variety of meanings (including considered by some as being quite a risque, obscene gesture!) dating back centuries, with one of the most common being a symbol of protection against evil, making figas great wearable talismans if you're looking for a little good luck.
The hand is made of coral and the cap at the top and jump ring are made of gold, unhallmarked but tests as at least 9ct.
The charm measures approx 19.8mm tall (not including the jump ring) by approx 7.5mm wide by approx 5.9mm deep and weighs approx 1.2g in total.
Condition - The charm is in good vintage condition but does show signs of age and wear to both the coral and gold fittings. The jump ring is currently soldered closed and is quite thin. Please see photos.
*Please note the box and chain pictured are not included in the sale but the charm will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
