We love finding opening charms and this sweet little gold envelope actually opens! It does look to have lived quite the life so it's now a little tricky to open easily but when you do open the flap, there is a gold letter inside that looks to have been engraved with an address.
It's likely that this gold letter inside was once removeable but not it is firmly inside and we haven't been able to take it out to read the engraving fully. Just the word 'High' can be seen.
The charm is made of 9ct gold and is marked '9ct' inside. Without further marks it's hard to date exactly but we think it's likely circa 1950s in age.
The charm weighs approx 1.6g and measures approx 12.3mm tall (not including the jump ring but including the ring the jump ring attaches to) by approx 12.3mm wide by approx 2.8mm deep.
Condition - The charm looks to have lived quite the life and is in well worn vintage condition. The charm shows signs of age and wear throughout, including surface wear and marks both inside and out. As mentioned above, the envelope is hard to open (we have needed to use a fine pin to push under the flap to help open the envelope) and is also hard to close again so we wouldn't recommend opening the charm often. The letter inside now also isn't removable. The jump ring is currently soldered closed. Please see photos
