These vintage and antique gold fobs are such incredible pieces to find. This is the first we've found with an enamelled rabbit to the front - usually we come across these with pigeons, as they were given as racing medals, and also ones that portray different sports, like football and golf, as they were used as competition medals too.
This particular vintage gold and enamel fob hasn't been engraved so we're not sure if it was a competition medal but we are so enamored by the beautiful black and white rabbit detailing.
The fob is made of 9ct gold and has British hallmarks to the back for what looks to be the maker 'F&S', 9ct gold, Birmingham and the date letter 'S' that looks most likely to be for 1942. The back at the top is also marked 'FATTORINI BRADFORD' although this has now worn away in places. The front has such exquisite enamel detailing of a black and white rabbit with blue sky, faint clouds and yellowed grass/ground underneath it.
The fob weighs approx 5g and measures approx 35.1mm tall (not including the jump ring) by approx 28.9mm wide by approx 2mm deep at its deepest point.
Condition - The fob is in good vintage condition but does show signs of age and wear, including surface wear to the gold and enamel. The enamel is in good condition for its age but it does have surface wear including some scratches. The jump ring is a little misshapen and is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.
*Please note the chain and box pictured are not included in the sale but the fob will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
