We love celestial jewels and this vintage 9ct gold and diamond moon brooch is such a pretty example. The moon has been set with five diamond chips in star settings and the gold has lovely decorative details too, including 9 tiny gold balls to one edge. 
 
The moon is made of 9ct gold and has a small gold plaque to the back that has a British '9ct' mark. The hinge and simple c clasp for the pin look to also be made out of gold but the pin itself is more silver in tone and is made of base metal.  
 
The crescent moon measures approx 44.3mm wide by approx 13.3mm tall from the bottom of the moon to the moon's crescent tips. The brooch weighs approx 2.4g in total.
 
Condition - The brooch is in good vintage condition but does show signs of age and wear, including surface wear to the gold and diamonds. The diamonds vary in size and are rough cut. There is damage to the gold moon to the edge near the centre. The gold is discoloured and the gold has been pierced. The pin mechanism still works and has a simple tube hinge and simple 'c' clasp for the pin. There are two airholes to the back from when the brooch was made. Please see photos.
