Known as keeper rings, these braided style bands were popular during the Victorian era, worn to keep other rings, usually more expensive pieces with gemstones, on your finger when worn. They were particularly helpful if you had a ring that was a little loose and at risk of falling off when worn.
This vintage ring has been designed with the Victorian style in mind. Due to its style, it wears well stacked with other rings and bands but also looks lovely worn on its own too. We find these keeper rings make sweet weddings bands if you're looking for something a little different!
The front of the ring features a pattern to imitate braided gold with ball (also sometimes called 'nail') detailing along the plait. There are 6 gold balls in total.
The ring is made of 9ct yellow gold and has British hallmarks inside the shank for the maker 'P&SJ', 9ct gold, London and the date letter V for 1995.
Ring size - approx just over a US 4 / approx just under a UK I (i)
The faux braided section to the front measures approx 11mm by approx 3.6mm and the ring tapers down to approx 1.3mm wide at the back. The ring weighs approx 0.8g in total.
Condition - The ring is in good vintage condition with just some light surface wear to the gold. Please see photos for more details.
*Please note the box pictured is not included in the sale but the ring will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch*
