We love jewellery that's functional as well as wearable - although this vintage 'In case of emergency' charm wouldn't be much use today as it holds an old British £1 note that's no longer in circulation. But we love that it was once a useful piece!
This vintage gold charm holds a folded up old British £1 note charm that was in circulation between 1978 and 1988, replaced by the £1 coin used today - a wearable piece of history! The charm has a lovely engraved message on one side 'IN EMERGENCY BREAK GLASS'.
The outer casing is made of 9ct yellow gold with British hallmarks for 'G&H', 9ct gold, London and the date letter 'f' for 1980.
The charm weighs approx 2.4g and measures approx 11.7mm tall (not including the ring at the top or the jump ring) by approx 13.7mm wide by approx 8.3mm deep.
Condition - The charm is in good vintage condition but does show signs of age and wear including surface wear to the gold throughout. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.
*Please note the antique box and chain pictured are not included in the sale but the charm will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch*
