We can't help but think that this vintage gold charm was based on a pirate's treasure chest! The lid actually opens but sadly there are no jewels or treasure inside. However the box is so incredibly detailed it definitely makes up for it!
We love that there are two hinged latches to the front that have to be lifted first for the lid to open. The handle to the top also moves too! The charm is wonderfully detailed to all sides, even the underneath has detail too.
The charm is made of 9ct gold and has British hallmarks on the bottom for the maker 'LJM', 9ct gold, the Sheffield import mark and the date letter 'G' for 1974. The attached bail to the handle is also marked for 9ct gold.
The charm measures approx 16mm tall (not including the bail but including the handle when upright) by approx 17.6mm wide by approx 12mm deep and weighs approx 4.3g.
Condition - The charm is in good vintage condition but does show some signs of age and wear, including surface wear to the gold. The hinge to the lid and latches still work well. The attached bail to the handle is currently soldered closed. Please see photos.
*Please note the chain and box pictured are not included in the sale but the charm will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch*
