We love snake jewellery and couldn't help but be drawn to this vintage gold and ruby eyed snake ring. Snakes are said to represent eternal love and were a very popular symbol during the Victorian era, thanks to Queen Victoria having a snake ring as her engagement ring! We love the way the snake's body wraps around itself to form the ring.
The ring is made of 9ct gold and has British hallmarks for 9ct gold, London and the date letter 'S' for 1973. The snake has been set with two glinting ruby eyes and the body has scales throughout the ring too.
The ring weighs approx 5.3g and the ring is approx 13mm wide at the front (including the snake's head) and tapers down to approx 4mm wide at the back of the ring.
Ring size - the ring measures up at approx a US size 4.75 / approx a UK J on a ring mandrel, although due to its chunky design it can wear a little snugger than this. As the snake's head and tail do not connect, there is a small amount of wiggle room in the ring size. Due to the pattern going all the way around the snake's body, we don't recommend resizing this ring.
Condition - The ring is in good vintage condition with just some light signs of age and wear, including surface wear to the gold and rubies. There is some wear and loss of the scales pattern around the ring. Please see photos.
*Please note the antique box pictured is not included in the sale but the ring will be shipped in a new presentation ring box and pouch*
