We love playing card games and this sweet vintage gold charm encapsulates so much of that fun. The charm holds miniature paper cards inside with windows to show the King of Diamonds to one side and the Queen of Diamonds to the other side.
Made of a 9ct gold case, the door features a Ace of Hearts card design, and opens to reveal the tiny card playing cards inside. There is a small window of plastic to each side that the playing cards are visible to offer some protection to the cards on display.
The charm is made of 9ct yellow gold and has British hallmarks to one side for the maker 'G&H Ltd', 9ct gold, London and the date letter 'i' for 1964. The playing cards inside are made of card/paper.
The charm measures approx 17mm tall (not including the jump ring or ring at the top) by approx 12.7mm wide by approx 10.4mm deep and weighs approx 4.1g in total.
Condition - The charm is in good vintage condition but does show signs of age and wear. There is surface wear to the gold and the paper cards inside have aged and are worn. We haven't taken the playing cards out of the gold case as they are very tightly packed inside and could be tricky to put back in again so we haven't checked that the full deck is inside. The hinge mechanism works well and the door closes well still. The jump ring is currently pushed closed and there is some wear and rubbing to the top of the gold box where the jump ring has rubbed the gold. Due to the paper cards inside, this charm cannot come into contact with liquids as it will damage the paper cards inside. Please see photos.
