Often given as medals for competitions and engraved with the winner's details, we love to find these antique and vintage fobs to see what detailing they have.
This vintage sterling silver fob dates to the 1920s and has beautiful detailing to the front depicting a side profile of a bird, we think most likely a pigeon as this was likely made to be a pigeon racing competition medal although it has never been engraved to the back so we're not sure if it was ever awarded to anybody.
The fob is made of sterling silver and has British hallmarks to the back for the maker 'P.F.J', the lion passant for sterling silver, the Birmingham assay mark and the date letter 'C' for 1927.
The fob measures approx 30.3mm tall (Not including the jump ring but including the fitting at the top) by approx 25.5mm wide by approx 2.5mm deep and weighs approx 8.4g.
Condition - The fob is in good vintage condition but it does show signs of age and wear. There is surface wear to the silver, including tarnishing and rubbing in places to both the front and back. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.
*Please note the antique box and chain pictured are not included in the sale but the fob will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
