These vintage fobs are such incredible and intriguing pieces to find. This particular medal is for The Royal Life Saving Association and features a beautiful Art Nouveau style lady to one side perched, holding a wreath and looking at a sunset over the water. This side reads 'Awarded to'. The other side features two people in the water, with one helping the other to safety. This side reads 'The Royal Life Saving Society Award of Merit'.
This medal would have likely been awarded as a prize for someone's life saving capabilities but as it's not been engraved with any further details we're not sure about its history/story beyond this.
The fob is made of sterling silver and has British hallmarks for the maker 'JAW & Co', Birmingham, the Lion Passant for sterling silver and the date letter C for '1927'.
The fob weighs approx 10.1g and measures approx 27.1mm in diameter (approx 36mm tall including the jump ring) by approx 2.3mm deep.
Condition - The fob is in good vintage condition but does show signs of age and wear, including surface wear to the silver. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.
*Please note the chain and box pictured are not included in the sale but the fob will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
