Often given as medals for competitions and engraved with the winner's details, we love to find these antique and vintage fobs to see what detailing they have.
This particular vintage gold fob is almost 100 years old and has beautiful detailing to the front and back. The front depicts the Leeds coat of arms with raised details of the three owls and enamel details highlighting the outline of the sheep in the centre. The enamel also depicts the motto 'Pro Rege Et Lege' which is Latin for 'For King and the law'.
To the back the fob has been engraved for the makers' Dance & Duerden Morley', a Leeds based maker, and below this the fob is engraved with the football competition details so we can see who it was awarded to and when it was awarded. It reads:

WINNERS 1927-8'
The fob is made of 9ct gold and has British hallmarks to the back for the maker at the bottom 'D&D' and '9CT' for 9ct gold.
The fob measures approx 28.6mm tall (Not including the jump ring but including the fitting at the top) by approx 20.3mm wide by approx 1.7mm deep and weighs approx 3.1g.
Condition - The fob is in good vintage condition for a piece that is almost 100 years old but not surprisingly for a piece of this age, it does show signs of age and wear. There is surface wear to the gold and the enamel, with some enamel loss in places, mainly to the motto at the bottom. The 9ct gold jump ring is currently pushed closed and is a new addition so it is yellower in tone than the gold of the fob. The fob loop at the top faces the opposite way to most pendants and charms as it was designed to be added to a pocket watch chain, we have added a jump ring to this but if you'd like to wear it as a pendant you may need another jump ring to help it lay flat. Items sent outside of the UK are sent via Royal Mail's International signed for service, which offers insurance for up to £250 and tracking.
