'Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble'
William Shakespeare
We love finding vintage and antique charms with hidden surprises inside and at first glance, this looks like quite the unassuming vintage gold house. That is until it's opened up to reveal a teeny tiny swinging gold cauldron that's suspended inside!
The sweet little cauldron swings from the gold arm inside so it has lovely movement to it. The cauldron even has a gold handle that's been attached separately to the cauldron bowl so it has movement too.
The house is incredibly detailed throughout to the outside, right down to engraved roof tiles and little open-work windows. The charm is marked inside '750' for 18ct gold and what looks to be a maker's mark 'CHN'.
The charm measures approx 10.6mm tall (not including the jump ring) by approx 12mm wide by approx 12.1mm deep (when closed) and weighs approx 3g in total.
Condition - The charm is in good vintage condition with some signs of age and wear, including some surface wear to the gold inside and out. The hinge mechanism still works well and the charm clicks closed to stay closed when worn. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.
*Please note the box and chain pictured are not included in the sale but the charm will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
