This antique locket is such a lovely piece. It looks to have been designed in a similar style to a book and the front features five small seed pearls, positioned in a shape along with engraving to represent a flower. We think it most likely symbolises a forget me not flower, a nod to always remembering who is treasured inside.
The locket is made of 9ct gold front and back, meaning the front and back panels are gold and the rest of the locket is made with a gold-toned base metal to give the locket strength. The locket is unhallmarked but tested.
Inside there is a beveled glass compartment so a special small photo or memento can be held and carried with you whenever it is worn. Currently it looks as though an original piece of card/paper is held inside. We would recommend taking the locket to a jeweller to have the glass window opened as it is held tightly within the locket.
The locket has been designed with two small ball details to the opening edge, one to each side of the opening halves so your fingers have something to grip onto when opening it - a lovely design touch!
The locket measures approx 14.3mm tall (not including the fitting at the top or the jump ring) by approx 12mm wide (when closed) by approx 5.1mm deep and weighs approx 2.5g.
Condition - The locket is in good antique condition but it does show significant signs of age and wear. There is surface wear and patina to the locket throughout, the back panel does have some dings to it. The seed pearls do also show signs of age and wear. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. The hinge mechanism of the locket still works well and the locket closes firmly. Please see photos.
*Please note the antique chain and two boxes pictured are not included in the sale but the locket will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
