A popular design used in the Victorian era, swallows were believed to represent love and were also given as a symbol of returning safely to your loved ones. The swallow mates for life, making this pendant/charm a beautiful gift for a special someone to symbolise your commitment to each other. We think it would make an incredibly sentimental gift for a bride to be, especially with the little turquoise for their something blue too!
The charm is made from silver with a 9ct gold wash to the back and a 9ct gold jump ring, unhallmarked but tested. The swallow has lovely detailing to the front, studded with 6 small rose cut diamonds of irregular shapes and sizes and a small turquoise cabochon. We beleive the swallow could likely have started life as a antique stick pin or part of a brooch that has been converted into a charm at some point in time.
The charm measures approx 23.6mm tall (not including the jump ring) by approx 14.7mm wide by approx 2.7mm deep. The charm weighs approx 0.9g.
Condition - The charm is in good antique condition with some signs of age and wear, including light surface wear to the gold and silver. The rose cut diamonds are all different shapes and sizes and do show signs of age and wear under close magnification, as well as the turquoise cabochon too. The jump ring is currently soldered closed. Please see photos for more detail.
