This is such an incredibly rare find, we can barely believe we are parting with it! Crafted in 15ct gold and silver, both sides of this perpetual calendar fob/pendant are wonderfully detailed and turn to track the date, month, sunset time, sunrise time and number or daylight hours and night time hours.
 
The central silver disc has each date of the month hand engraved to one side and the 15ct gold disc above has a cut out section to show the silver below. The gold disc has the days of the week hand engraved and next to each day is the planet symbol each name is associated with; Sunday - Sun, Monday - Moon, Tuesday - Mars, Wednesday - Mercury, Thursday - Jupiter, Friday - Venus and Saturday - Saturn. There is also a lovely leaf design hand engraved too. The top gold section turns so you can line up the days of the current week with the appropriate date.  
 
The other side of the central silver disc has each month abbreviation hand engraved with the number of days in that month below. The gold disc above has cut out windows to show the silver disc below. On the gold disc is hand engraved 'Day', 'Rising', 'Night' and 'Setting' and as you turn the silver disc the corresponding hand engraved numbers on the silver disc below line up with each of these categories. 
 
The pendant is made of two 15ct yellow discs, and one central silver disc, both have been tested but are unhallmarked which is common for a piece of this age. We believe it's likely early 20th Century in age, but it could possibly be older than this and date to the late 19th Century in age.
 
The pendant measures approx 25mm tall (including the ring at the top but not the jump ring) by approx 21mm in diameter by approx 3.5mm deep and weighs approx 7g in total. 
 
Condition - The pendant is in good wearable condition for a piece of this age but as to be expected, it does show significant signs of age and wear. The two gold discs are indented in places to both sides. The silver disc in the centre also shows signs of rubbing and wear, the silver has been smoothed down in places where the disc has rubbed against the gold and this has worn the hand engraving in places. There is also tarnishing in places to the silver too. The two gold discs are very stiff to move and take a little bit of pressure at times to turn. This does mean that the pendant can be worn and the discs stay in place when you have set it to the desired dates and times. The jump ring is currently soldered closed and has a worn flat section to it. Please see photos.
