This sweet antique flower ring features the lovelies combination of flat cut garnets and turquoise cabochons set in closed back settings. Not only that, but the ring band also has a pretty notched detail that runs the entire way around too.
We believe the ring dates to the Victorian era, given its style and materials. It's design is typical of sentimental jewellery made at that time and reminds us of a forget-me-not flower.
The ring is unhallmarked but tests as at least 9ct gold. The flower face of the ring and ring band could possibly have been an old marriage of two pieces of jewellery. From the marks visible this looks to have been done many years ago if so. The stones are set in closed back settings.
Ring size - approx a US 7 / approx a UK O
The ring weighs approx 1.4g and the face measures approx 9.9mm by approx 9.9mm. The ring band measures approx approx 1.35mm wide at the back of the ring.
Condition - The ring is in good antique condition but does show signs of age and wear, including surface wear to the gold and gemstones. The turquoise and garnets show visible signs of wear and age and the turquoise vary in colour. Some of the turuqoise do look to have been reset at some point in time as there are tiny gaps between the stone and edges of the settings.
As mentioned above, we believe this ring could likely be an antique conversion piece and so old solder marks are visible where the face of the ring meets the gold shank. There is also a small area of wear to the ring band on the outside towards the back of the ring.
