This is such a rare and highly coveted charm! With British hallmarks dating it to 1904, the charm is Edwardian in age and features a fold out magnifying glass/loupe within a prettily decorated gold case.
The charm is made of 9ct gold and has British hallmarks to one side of the case for the maker 'W.O', 9ct gold, Birmingham and the date letter 'e' for 1904. The charm measures approx 27.9mm long when the magnifying glass is folded in (including the bail) by approx 13.1mm wide by approx 6.1mm deep and weighs approx 2.5g in total. When the magnifying glass is folded out, the charm measures approx 38mm long (including the bail).
Condition - The charm is in well loved antique condition and shows considerable signs of age and wear. There is surface wear to the gold and glass throughout. There are dark marks to the gold in places and part of the gold looks to have broken away to one side of the case. There is also some damage to the side of the gold frame that holds the glass. The magnifying glass does work but is a little fuzzy so we'd recommend the charm is worn as a decorative piece. There is a nice sized circular bail to the top of the charm that a jump ring could be added to if required. Please see photos.
*Please note the antique box, chain and book pictured are not included in the sale but the charm will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
