A timeless classic, we love finding lockets as they just never seem to go out of style and are truly romantic pieces! We love to wonder about what sweet love tokens were originally kept inside too.
 
This antique locket is made of 9ct gold with British hallmarks to the back (these are now quite worn) for what looks to be the maker 'WHC', 9ct gold, Birmingham and what looks to be the date letter 'l' for 1910. This hallmark is worn to the top so it could instead be the letter 'i' for 1908. 
 
The locket has wonderful detail to both the front and the back, with the front also being set with 6 seed pearls in varying sizes and colours depicting a moon and star. We think it would be such a sweet piece to symbolise the famous line of poetry by E.E. Cummings 'you are my sun, my moon, and all my stars'. 
 
The locket weighs approx 1.55g and measures approx 23mm tall (including the ring at the top but not including the jump ring) by approx 15.3mm wide by approx 5mm deep.
 
Condition - The locket is in good antique condition considering it is over 100 years old but does show significant signs of age and wear including surface wear to the front and back and also inside the locket too. There are some small indents and dings to the gold, as well as a small pierced hole to the back of the locket. We think the pearl in the star design has been reset at some point and could be a possible replacement. The locket hinge still works well and with some slight manipulation the locket does click closed, otherwise it pushes closed (see photo of the locket in the brown box for how it looks if only pushed closed). The jump ring is faceted and is currently soldered closed.
