This antique gold charm is a bit of a mystery to us but we love how quirky it is, we've never seen another like it before. With a circular figure to the centre, above it are the four points of a compass, N, E, S, W and below is the acronym W.A.N.D. We've tried to research what the charm symbolises but haven't been able to find an exact reference so it's little like a puzzle!
The back has an old '9' mark for 9ct gold and there is also a Registered mark 'RD548371' which we have also researched but can't find a connection to. We have seen lucky 'Fumsup' charms linked to WW1 with similar marks and given it's design, we wonder if it's linked to a group that existed during WW1. If you have any clues as to what it could symbolise please do let us know!
Even though we don't quite know what it symbolises we love the charm and its quirkiness. The figure to the centre has a lovely smiling face!
The charm weighs approx 0.8g in total. It measures approx 23.6mm tall (not including the jump ring) by approx 8.4mm wide by approx 0.7mm deep.
Condition - the charm is in good antique condition but it does show signs of age and wear, including some surface wear to the gold. The jump ring is currently pushed closed and is a newer 9ct gold addition so it is yellower in tone than the 9ct gold of the charm. Please see photos.
*Please note the box and chain pictured are not included in the sale but the charm will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
