One of our favourite styles of chains to find, this antique 9ct gold watch chain features a T-bar that slides up and down the chain, along with a dog clip to one end and a bolt ring clasp to the other.
Chains like these were originally designed as watch chains to attach a pocket watch to, but now they make such lovely bracelets or necklaces when the clips are connected together like a clasp. It measures approx 14 1/4 inches long (including the dog clip and bolt ring clasp) so it is a short chain length. We like to style it wrapped twice around the wrist as a bracelet but it could be worn as choker necklace too depending on your neck size. A chain extender could even be added if you have one to add a little extra length to the chain.
The dog clip and bolt ring clasp also make great charm holders too, it's such a versatile piece to add to your jewellery box.
The chain is a belcher link that is made of 9ct gold. The bolt ring clasp and T-bar have '9c' hallmarks for 9ct gold and the dog clip has a '9.375' for 9ct gold.
The chain measures approx 14 1/4 inches long including the clasps. The T-bar isn't fixed to a point on the chain so it can slide along the chain. The T-bar measures approx 33mm wide and the belcher link is approx 2.7mm wide. The chain weighs approx 8.45g in total.
Condition - The chain is in good antique condition but does show signs of age and wear, including some surface wear to the gold. The dog clip hinge is a little stiff and doesn't push open all of the way in, to connect the two clasps together the bolt ring clasp needs to be fully open, the bolt ring clasp hinge still works well. Some links are a little misshapen from age and wear. Please see photos.
