We love finding antique chains, they seem to be getting harder and harder to find these days too! This particular gold chain has a really lovely, unsual link known as a tulip link. 
 
This victorian chain is such a versatile piece for your jewellery box and a real timeless piece too! Wear it on its own, layer it with other chains or add charms/pendants. So many different looks in one! 
 
The chain is made of 9ct gold and measures approx 30 inches long in total, including the dog clip drop at the bottom. The chain itself measures Approx 28 1/2 inches long. The link measures approx 2.9mm wide. The chain itself is unmarked but tested as 9ct gold and the dog clip is marked '9c'. The chain weighs approx 16.6g in total.
The chain doesn’t open but is long enough to put on by simply placing over your head. The dog clip is fixed at the bottom (it doesn’t act as a clasp for the chain but it could be altered by a jeweller to be a clasp for the chain if desired). The gold has a lovely warm rose tone to it,  typical of pieces of this age. This is a much softer rose tone than new 9ct rose gold found today due to different alloys used in the metal. 
 
Condition - The chain is in very good antique condition with some light signs of age and wear including some very light surface wear to the gold. The dog clip still works well and the links are in very good condition. Please see photos.
