Often given as medals for competitions and engraved with the winner's details, we love to find these antique and vintage fobs to see what detailing they have.
This antique gold fob is 100 years old and has beautiful detailing to the front depicting a hand engraved castle.
To the back the fob has been hand engraved with the competition abbreviation and winner details so we can see who it was awarded to and when. It reads:
'K.C.B.S.
WON BY
J. Ross
1925'
The fob is made of 9ct gold and has British hallmarks to the back for the maker 'S. Bros', 9ct gold, Birmingham and the date letter 'Z' for 1924. The attached jump ring is also hallmarked for 9ct gold.
The fob measures approx 26.6mm tall (Not including the jump ring but including the fitting at the top) by approx 22.4mm wide by approx 0.75mm deep and weighs approx 3.2g.
Condition - The fob is in good antique condition for a piece that is 100 years old but not surprisingly for a piece of this age, it does show signs of age and wear. There is surface wear to the gold and the gold is a mix of both rose and yellow tones. The jump ring is currently soldered closed. Please see photos.
*Please note the antique box and chain pictured are not included in the sale but the fob will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
