How wonderful is this antique, Edwardian gold whistle charm/pendant!? We love the dog design to one end and it actually works like a real whistle too! 
 
The charm is made of 9ct gold with British hallmarks for what looks to be the maker 'AV', 9ct gold, Chester and what looks to be the date letter 'H' for 1908 (this mark is a little rubbed and hard to read clearly but from the shape and design this is the date letter we think it most likely resembles). 
 
The whistle measures approx 12.7mm tall (not including the jump ring at the top but including the fitting the jump ring attaches to) by approx 9.4mm wide by approx 34mm long and weighs approx 2.2g in total. 
 
Condition - The whistle is in good antique condition considering it is over 100 years old but it does show significant signs of age and wear, including surface wear to the gold and hallmarks and some indents in places. There are also some dark marks to the gold throughout, particularly at the whistle mouthpiece end, where the ring attaches to the whistle and also to the dog's snout. The gold is a mixture of a warm rosey tone and a yellower tone. The ring the jump ring attaches is worn to the top and there is a dark old solder mark where it attaches to the whistle. The jump ring is currently soldered closed but is quite misshapen, we have left it attached though as we think it might be the original. The whistle does work and makes a whistle sound when blown but it would be best used as a decorative piece rather than a working whistle given its condition. This is a well worn and aged piece and has been priced according to its condition. Please see photos.
