Said to ward off evil, this antique ring looks a lot like an all seeing/evil eye. We love it's simplistic shape and how it's been decorated with seed pearls and bright blue turquoise cabochons that really pop.
The ring is made of 18ct yellow gold and is marked '18ct' inside the shank. The eye shape has been set with five small seed pearls and five small turquoise cabochons. The ring also has some lovely detail to each side of the eye too.
Without full hallmarks, it's hard to date the ring exactly but given its style, materials and the gold mark, we think it's likely late Victorian in age.
Ring size - approx a US 7 / approx a UK O
The 'eye' shape is approx 8mm tall by approx 15mm wide and the ring weighs approx 1.55g in total. The ring band measures approx 2.1mm wide at the back of the shank.
Condition - The ring does show signs of age and wear, both to the gold and the stones. We think some of the seed pearls are likely replacements as they do vary in size. The ring has some dark discolouration to the gold in places, particularly around where the turquoise are set. There is an old scratch mark to the gold on the outside of the shank towards the back of the ring from a previous gold test. The stones vary naturally in colour and patterns. Please see photos
*Please note the antique box pictured is not included in the sale but the ring will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
