Rare and highly collectable, we completely fell head over heals in love as soon as we saw this antique gold bean charm! A symbol of luck, as well as rebirth and new beginnings, it even has a lovely little sapphire set near the bottom too. It would make such a special piece for a September babe!

The charm is made of 9ct gold, with British hallmarks marked 9ct to one side and also 9ct gold, Birmingham and what looks to be the date letter 'Z' for 1899 to the back (this is a little worn but the letter style and outline mark looks most like the letter ‘Z’ for 1899 and given the charm’s designs and style it is inkeeping with this era). There is also a maker's mark but this is now a little worn and hard to make out clearly.

The charm measures approx 19.4mm tall (not including the jump ring) by approx 9.5mm wide by approx 4mm deep and weighs approx 0.75g in total. The charm is hollow in the middle and has been made by joining two halves of the bean together so there is a seam line that runs around the sides, please see below for more details on its condition, and a small air hole to the bottom of the charm.

Condition - The charm is in good antique condition considering it’s age but does show significant signs of age and wear, including wear and light dents to the gold, to the front back and sides, and also surface wear to the sapphire stone. The seam has come apart to one side of the bean so care will need to be taken when worn but the two halves are still secure. We have priced the charm according to this age and wear. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.

*Please note the box and chain pictured are not included in the sale but the charm will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
