Love to travel and see the world? Then this could be the perfect charm for you! This rare and highly collectable vintage charm has the sweetest, hand painted porcelain globe that actually turns with gold fittings. It's a lovely larger size too, one of the largest we've seen of this style.
The top and bottom fittings of the globe are made gold, unhallmarked but tested as at least 9ct gold. The jump ring is a new 9ct gold addition. The globe itself is made of porcelain which has been hand painted. Without further hallmarks, it's hard to date exactly but we think it likely dates to the 1940s/50s. A lot of the ocean names and continent names are abbreviated but we think the charm is likely French in origin as Africa is marked 'AFRIQUE' and South America is shortened to 'RIQUE'.
The charm weighs approx 3.8g and measures approx 17.8mm tall (not including the jump ring) by approx 14.1mm wide (The porcelain globe diameter).
Condition - The charm is in good vintage condition but does show signs of age and wear to the gold and the hand painted globe. The globe is overall in very good condition, with just some noticeable wear to the very bottom, likely from rubbing from the gold fitting when turned. The gold fitting at the top is a little upturned in one place. The jump ring is currently pushed closed.
*Please note the box and chain pictured are not included in the sale but the charm will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
