This sweet ring likely dates to either the First or Second World War and was likely given as a love token to someone who was separated by war. We love the blue, red and black enamel detailing to the base metal face. The face reads 'Forget me not' and there is also an interlocking circle design to each side of this too.
We really wish this ring could talk so we could hear all of the stories it likely holds! As we can't date it exactly, it could possibly be earlier than vintage if it dates to WW1 and so could be antique. It's such a fantastic wearable piece of history that would make a sweet love token still today!
The base metal face has been added on to a wide, rolled gold ring band. Precious metals were likely very scarce at the time this ring was made and so this gives the look of solid gold but without the price tag. There does look to possibly be a maker's mark inside but this isn't clear enough to make out.
Ring size - approx a US 8 / approx a UK Q (Due to the ring's width it does wear snugger than it measures on a ring mandrel, especially depending on your finger's shape. We wouldn't recommend resizing the ring)
The face of the ring measures approx 8.7mm tall by approx 16.2mm wide and the ring band measures approx 4.5mm wide at its narrowest point at the back of the ring. The ring weighs approx 2.1g in total.
Condition - The ring is in good vintage condition but does show signs of age and wear including surface wear to the enamel, rolled gold and base metal. There is a join mark to the band inside the ring and what looks to have originally been a maker's mark is marked both inside and outside of the ring. Please see photos.
*Please note the antique box and the gold pinky band ring pictured are not included in the sale but the ring will be shipped in a new ring box and pouch*
