If you love your jewels fierce, then this is the perfect ring for you! Hand engraved with a roaring rampant lion emerging out of a crown, this antique 15ct gold signet ring is sure to add a fierce vibe to your jewellery box!
The engraving is likely to symbolise a family crest and according to the 'Fairbairn's Book of Crests of the Families of Great Britain and Ireland' from 1902, the rampant lion and crown is likely to represent the families:
The ring is made of 15ct gold and it has Irisih hallmarks to the back of the ring's face for 15ct gold, Dublin and the date letter 'A' which we believe is for 1871.
Ring size - the ring measures up at approx a US 12 / approx a UK Y. There is room underneath the ring's face as it has been made slightly concave so it does feel to wear a size or so bigger than it measures at approx a US 12.5 / approx a UK Z
The ring weighs approx 7g and the face measures approx 19.9mm by 15.5mm. The shank tapers down to approx 3mm wide at the back of the shank.
Condition - The ring is in good, wearable antique condition considering its age but it does show signs of age and wear. There is surface wear to the gold throughout. The face of the ring does have a noticeable area of scratches at approx 11 o'clock. As the ring's surface is quite reflective, the wear is more and less noticeable at different angles. Please see photos.
*Please note the antique boxes pictured are not included in the sale but the ring will be shipped in a new presentation ring box and pouch*
