'Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble'
William Shakespeare
We love finding vintage and antique charms with hidden surprises inside and at first glass, this looks like quite the unassuming vintage silver chalet/house. That is until it's opened up to reveal a teeny tiny swinging silver cauldron that's suspended inside!
The house is incredibly detailed throughout to the outside, right down to individually engraved roof tiles and little open-work windows. The charm is made of continental silver, marked '800' to the inside floor of the house/chalet. The charm is also engraved 'Switzerland' to the outside underneath.
The charm measures approx 11.1mm tall (not including the jump ring) by approx 14.6mm wide by approx 12.5mm deep (when closed) and weighs approx 3.25g in total.
Condition - The charm is in good vintage condition with some signs of age and wear, including some surface wear to the silver inside and out. The floor of the inside of the house/chalet does show signs of tarnishing and wear towards the back. The hinge mechanism still works well and the charm clicks closed to stay closed when worn. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.
*Please note the box and chain pictured are not included in the sale but the charm will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
