This unusual vintage gold wash over silver coin padlock bracelet has been made using nine British silver threepence coins that date from 1912 to 1925. We're not sure if the years of the coins were to commemorate different life events or if they were to represent different family memebers but we love the mystery behind the coins used!
The clasp is a vintage sterling silver opening padlock which has British hallmarks to the back for the maker AWF, Birmingham, sterling silver and the date letter Y for 1973. The bracelet has been given a gold wash to give the look of gold but it is actually all silver - a great way to get the look of a chunky vintage gold bracelet but without the price tag!
The bracelet weighs approx 17.6g in total and measures approx 7 inches long when closed. The bracelet doesn’t fully open as it has a safety chain connecting the two ends and the padlock together so the padlock slips over the hand and fastens to wear. The safety chain is approx 3 inches long.
The threepence coins feature the head of King George V too to the other side and the bracelet can be worn with either side of the coin showing, giving two looks in one!
Condition - The bracelet is in good vintage condition but does show signs of age and wear, some of the gold wash is wearing away in places and there is surface wear to both the coins and padlock. There are also some solder marks to the coins beneath the gold wash from when the bracelet was made. The padlock clasp works well. It opens by pulling the top bar upwards and closes with a click to stay closed when worn.
*Please note, the box pictured is not included in the sale but the bracelet will be sent in a new presentation box*
