A popular design used in the Victorian era, swallows were believed to represent love and were also given as a symbol of returning safely to your loved ones. The swallow mates for life, making this charm pairing such a sentimental duo!
We love how the two swallows are flying in different directions meaning they can be worn flying towards each other or away from each other. Wear them as a pair, or you could keep one and gift a special someone in your life the other to symbolise your commitment to each other. We think they would make an incredibly sentimental gift for a couple getting married too!
The charms are made from 9ct gold and each are marked '9CT' to the back. The swallow has lovely detailing to the front and is plain and concave to the back. Each is sat on a gold circular border.
Without further marks it's hard to date the charms exactly but we believe they are likely circa 1940s/50s in age.
Each charm measures approx 14.4mm tall (not including the jump ring) by approx 14.5mm wide by approx 2mm deep. Each charm weighs approx 0.45g each so they have a combined weight of aprox 0.9g.
Condition - The charms are in good vintage condition with some signs of age and wear, including some surface wear and tarnishing to the gold. The jump rings are newer in age than the charms so they differ slightly in gold colour to the charms themselves. The jump rings are 9ct gold and are both currently pushed closed. This listing is for both swallow charms as a pair. Please see photos for more detail.
*Please note the antique box and chain pictured are not included in the sale but the charms will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
