This vintage, gold, lond and short link, padlock bracelet would be the perfect base for a charm bracelet. Although with it's lovely alternating link pattern and heart padlock clasp, it does look really pretty worn as it is too!
The bracelet is made of 9ct gold, the chain itself has British hallmarks on one of the first rings for 9ct gold, and on the ring at the other end of the chain for the maker 'C C', Sheffield and the date letter 'R' for 1991. The padlock clasp also has British hallmarks to the back for the maker 'D S', 9ct gold, Birmingham and the date letter 'Q' for 1990.
The chain measures approx 7 inches long and there is a fine 9ct gold chain attaching the padlock and the two ends of the bracelet all together so it cannot fully open, this is known as a safety chain. This safety chain measures approx just over 2 inches long so the bracelet widens to just over 9 inches to be able to be slid over the hand and fastened. The chain link is approx 3.5mm wide and the padlock measures approx 16.1mm tall by approx 10mm wide. The bracelet weighs approx 4.95g in total.
The padlock opens by pulling the top lever upwards and closes by being pushed back down again until you hear a click. This mechanism is still nice and firm. The padlock also has pretty faux screw and keyhole details to the front.
Condition - The bracelet is in good vintage condition but does show some signs of age and wear, there is some light surface wear to the gold throughout on both the chain and padlock. The padlock clasp mechanism still works well. Please see photos.
*Please note, the antique box pictured is not included in the sale but the bracelet will be sent in a new presentation box and pouch.*
