Here at Kate Gold, we love opals! Their colour flashes almost feel a little magical with their array of colours and no two are ever the same.
This vintage gold and opal ring has a lovely milky white coloured opal which has such gentle colour flashes of greens, blues and purples when the light catches it. The opal is an oval shape and is set flushly into a bezel setting with an open back. The opal is nestled in a bypass/cross over style between both sides of the ring's shank.
The ring is made of 9ct yellow gold and has British hallmarks inside the shank for the what looks to be the maker 'SGS' (this mark is a little hard to make out), 9ct gold, Sheffield and the date letter 'M' for 1986.
Ring size - approx a US 6 1/2 / approx a UK M 1/2 - N
The ring weighs approx 1.7g and the opal in its setting measures approx 8mm by 6mm. The shank tapers down to approx 2.5mm wide at the back of the shank.
Condition - The ring is in good, wearable vintage condition but does show signs of age and wear. There is surface wear to both the gold and opal, under close magnification the opal is quite worn but this isn't as noticable to the naked eye when worn. There is some glue residue visible to the back of the opal (this isn't visible when worn). We do not recommend letting this ring come into contact with water or lotions. Please see photos.
*Please note the antique box pictured is not included in the sale but the ring will be shipped in a new presentation ring box and pouch*
