This vintage, 9ct gold, padlock bracelet would be the perfect base for a charm bracelet. Although we have to admit it does look really pretty worn as it is too!
The bracelet is made of 9ct gold, the chain itself has British hallmarks on one of the first rings for 9ct gold, and on the ring at the other end of the chain for the maker 'G J', London and the date letter 'p' for 1989. The padlock clasp also has British hallmarks to the back for the maker 'L C', 9ct gold, London and the date letter 'p' for 1989.
The chain measures approx 7 inches long and the chain link is approx 4.5mm wide. The padlock measures approx 15.5mm tall by approx 11.4mm wide. The bracelet weighs approx 7.6g in total.
The padlock opens by pulling the top lever upwards and closes by being pushed back down again until you hear a click. This mechanism still works well. The padlock also has pretty faux screw and keyhole details to the front.
Condition - The bracelet is in good vintage condition but does show signs of age and wear. There are two rings, one on ether end of the chain, where a safety chain would have been attached. A new one could be added by a jeweller if you would like to have this replaced. The top bar of the padlock is a little out of round and to the back of the padlock, top right, is little indented but it still works just fine. There is some light surface wear to the gold throughout on both the chain and padlock. Please see photos.
*Please note, the antique box pictured is not included in the sale but the bracelet will be sent in a new presentation box and pouch.*
