We love snake jewellery and couldn't help but be drawn to this unusual gold and ruby eyed snake ring. Snakes are said to represent eternal love and were a very popular symbol during the Victorian era, thanks to Queen Victoria having a snake ring as her engagement ring! And more than 120 years on from her reign, snake rings are still very popular today and highly collectable.  
 
This particular snake ring wraps around the finger several times so it creates a real statement when worn. The head and tail of the snake are made of a lovely yellow 9ct gold whilst the smooth part of the ring band, the snake's body, has been made out of 9ct gold with a rose tone to it making a pretty contrast!
 
As the ring is open ended, the two ends of the snake can be opened of closed slightly to make the ring a little snugger or wider. 
 
The ring is made of 9ct gold with British hallmarks on the tail for the maker 'A&W', 9ct gold, Birmingham and the date letter 'L' for 1985. There are two small ruby cabochons for eyes. 
 
The ring weighs approx 5.2g and the ring measures approx 20mm from head to tail. The ring band is approx 1.6mm wide.
 
Ring size - due to the ring's unique design, it is a little hard to size on a ring mandrel. When sizing, the top of the ring (head) measures up at approx a US 5 1/4/ approx a UK K whilst the bottom of the ring (tail) measures up at approx a 6 1/2 / approx a UK M
 
The ring can be manipulated slightly to make it larger or smaller at both the head and tail ends. 

Condition - The ring is in good vintage condition but does show some signs of age and wear, including light surface wear to the gold and ruby eyes. The head doesn't sit quite flush to the finger when worn due to the angle it is positioned in. Please see photos.
