This has to be one of the most fun and special charms we've ever found! Not only does the ferris wheel turn, but it also has six individually hinged carriages, each with a tiny person inside, that actually tip and move as the wheel turns. The craftsmanship that's gone into this vintage gold charm is nothing short of magical!
The charm is made of 9ct yellow gold and has British hallmarks on the bottom for 9ct gold, Birmingham and the date letter 'R' for 1966.
The charm measures approx 20mm tall by approx 17mm wide (not including the jump ring) by approx 9mm deep and weighs just under 4g, approx 3.95.
As the jump ring is connected to the base of the ferris wheel on one side, it does hang upside down and at an angle when worn.
Condition - The charm is in good vintage condition with some signs of age and wear, including some surface wear to the gold. One of the carriages looks to have a small amount of enamel detail to the person, this carriage doesn't turn. There is also a small section of white enamel to the inside of the Ferris wheel. We’re not sure if at one time the charm had more enamel decoration but if so, this has almost completely now worn away. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.
