We can't help but think that this vintage gold ship charm was based on a pirate ship. It's wonderfully detailed throughout and actually opens at the bottom to reveal hidden treasure inside!
The charm is made of 9ct yellow gold and has the maker's mark 'HSLTD' to one side of the ship and to the other the marks for 9ct gold, Birmingham and the date letter 'Q' for 1965.
The charm weighs approx 2.15g and measures approx 20.4mm tall (not including the jump ring) by approx 16.6mm wide by approx 6mm deep.
Condition - The charm is in good vintage condition with some surface wear to the gold. The sails look to have once had white enamel detail to the front, this can be seen on the far right sail but it has almost completely worn away. The treasure in the opening of the ship is made of faux gemstones likely made of plastic (these have not been tested) and are glued in place, some are a little out of place. The hinge mechanism still works well but the bottom of the boat doesn't firmly close. The hinge is quite stiff still so the bottom does stay closed though. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.
*Please note the antique box and chain pictured are not included in the sale but the charm will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
