We love finding vintage moving charms, they are such fun pieces to wear and are sure to catch people's eyes when worn too. This is probably one of the most unusual moving charms we've ever found! It's a super detailed machine with a lever that moves to produce a gold Premium Bond.
The machine is known as ERNIE (Electronic Random Number Indicator Equipment) and is the random number generator used by National Savings and Investments (NS&I) to conduct the monthly prize draws for Premium Bonds in the UK. Each month, ERNIE generates random numbers to determine which Premium Bonds are winners.
We have never seen another charm like it before, it is super detailed from each angle and when the lever is moved, not only does a Premium Bond (that looks a lot like a golden ticket!) pop out, but a small arrow on the opposite side of the charm also moves, pointing to number. It's been so incredibly well made and is sure to be a real conversation started when worn.
The charm is made of 9ct gold and has British hallmarks for ther maker 'G&H', 9ct gold, London, and the date letter 'g' for 1962.
The charm measures approx 16.3mm tall (not including the jump ring) by approx 14.7mm long (when the Premium Bond is inside) by approx 11.5mm deep and weighs approx 6.8g.
Condition - The charm is in good vintage condition with some signs of age and wear, including some light surface wear to the gold. The moving mechanism still works well. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.
*Please note the antique chain and box pictured are not included in the sale but the charm will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch*
