'We're packed in like sardines!'
We love finding charms that symbolises fun phrases. 'Packed in like sardines' is definitely something we've heard a lot over the years, especially on busy tube journeys!
The charm is wonderfully detailed throughout, with the lid of the tin peeled back to reveal tiny gold sardines packed inside. The charm is made of 9ct gold and has British hallmarks down one side of the tin for the maker 'FM' and 9ct gold. There was also an assay mark and date letter but these have now worn down so they can't be made out clearly. The 9ct gold hallmark is for pre 1975 so we think given this hallmark and the charm's style it likely dates to the 1960s.
The charm measures approx 15.5mm tall (not including the bail) by approx 9mm wide by approx 6.4mm deep and weighs approx 2.45g.
Condition - The charm is in good vintage condition with some light surface wear to the gold. The jump ring is currently pushed closed and is a good large size. Please see photos.
